World Book Day 2013

We will be celebrating World Book Day this week. Your child got a £1 book voucher last week which you can use in a bookstore to purchase a book.

One of our activities for World Book Day, we are going to talk about our favourite book. If your child wants they can bring a book from home to add to our favourite book display. We will also be writing a report in class about our favourite book.

Libby has completed her sewing

P1 Ladybirds do sewing every Thursday afternoon with help from volunteers in the community. They are all doing very well. Libby is the first to complete her sewing.

Helping with our learning at home

Maths

Our Maths topic for this week and next is money. This is a very exciting project with a lot of different activities which the children are really enjoying.  

A home learning idea from Heinnemann Active Maths is:

Ask parents and carers to tip the contents of their purse or wallet into a dish and look at the coins and notes with their child. They can play with them, do pretend shopping, put them in order, draw them. Emphasise that there is no right or wrong thing to do – just explore and have fun.

Language

Our sounds in Jolly Phonics this week are sh and oa. We have been identifying a list of words which have these sounds in them. Maybe you can think of ones with you children aswell?

Drama

Have you been told about the Sun Wizard?? P1 Ladybirds have been very lucky to have Mr Giles helping us this term for Drama. 

P1 Assembly - January 2013

Today we had the P1 Bumble bees and Ladybirds first assembly. It was about Noah's Ark. Well done to all the P1s you all did fantastic. Please view the photos below, thank you to Ms Rendall for taking the photos:
